WARSTORY
Besides the usual challenges (budget problems, bystanders asking for camera
time, running out of Redbull and Camel Lights, etc.) that come with making
a film, "Detroit Unleaded" had it’s own unique problems.
Just finding a gas station in Detroit to host a twenty-three person crew
and forty-four person cast for a twelve day/night shoot and for absolutely
no money seemed pretty much impossible. When we realized that no self-respecting
businessman would close down his station as a favor to an independent filmmaker,
we convinced an owner of a defunct station to lend us his place with our
“proof of insurance” papers and an invite to the super- cool
wrap party.
